Day 1 (Fri) Miami/ Lima, Peru
Depart from Miami International Airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 (Sat) Lima
Breakfast. Start your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site, a structure inhabited between the 5th and 8th centuries, located in Miraflores. Visit its site museum. Next, visit the Plaza Mayor, the historical center of Lima. On to the 16th century San Francisco Monastery, followed by the beautiful residential district of San Isidro for spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Balance of day at leisure. Welcome dinner this evening. (B,D)
Day 3 (Sun) Lima/ Cuzco
Depart to Cuzco. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Free time to acclimate to the altitude. Cuzco is a city enveloped in myth and legend, with a history of more than 3,000 years, it is one of the oldest existing cities in the Americas. Traces of its Incan and Spanish heritage can still be seen today. On a city tour this afternoon, see Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Next, visit several Inca ruins including the immense fortress of Saqsaywaman, Tambomachay, and the remarkable Kenqo Amphitheater. (B)
Day 4 (Mon) Cuzco
ATTEND CME PROGRAM.
A day to explore on your own the historical city of Cuzco, whose narrow streets bustle with traders and artisans. (B)
Day 5 (Tue) Cuzco/ Sacred Valley/ Urubamba
Today, descend into the magical “Sacred Valley”. Travel first to Ollantaytambo. The town has preserved the Inca layout complete with fortress. Continue to Pisac, an Andean village with an outstanding archaeological complex on the mountain behind the town. (B,L)
Day 6 (Wed) Urubamba/ Machu Picchu/ Cuzco
Transfer to Ollanta Station for the train trip to Machu Picchu. On arrival at Aguas Calientes ascend by bus to the ruins of the “Lost City of the Incas” for a guided walking tour. In the late afternoon, take the train back to Cuzco. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight. (B,L)
Day 7 (Thu) Cuzco/ Lima
Late morning flight to Lima. This afternoon, join a tour to the famed Larco Herrera and the Archaeological Museums and its priceless collection of pre-Columbian gold and art. Your evening is free. (B)
Day 8 (Fri) Lima
ATTEND CME PROGRAM. A day to enjoy the sights of Lima. Suggestions will be given for local places to shop. Optional excursions will be offered. Farewell dinner. (B,D)
Day 9 (Sat) Lima/ Miami
This morning and afternoon are free for individual pursuits. Evening transfer to the airport for your overnight flight to Miami. (B)
Day 10 (Sun) Miami
Morning arrival at Miami International Airport.
